Happy New Year, everyone!
I feel like I’ve woken up from a restless slumber only to find myself in the second week of January! So much happened towards the end of 2020 that I didn’t even get a chance to reflect on my year and plan for the new one. This is why I’m here, setting out my goals for the year, a ritual we all partake in.
But something feels different about the energy of 2021. Is it fear or anticipation? I’m not sure, but the impression I get is: have a vision, but go with the flow.
For me, 2021 is going to be a year of less doing and more becoming. As I write this, I’m contemplating: Who or what do I want to become? More importantly, why do I want to become that? (Careful now, don’t let your tongue get tied!)
Remember when we were asked as children what we wanted to be when we became rich and famous? Many of us, including me, would say “RICH & FAMOUS.” But have you ever thought of the why? No, neither did I.
This brings me to why I want to set intentions, goals, and visions differently this year. I’ll share some tips with you as well.
First, let’s step out of this panic-anxiety state of, “Oh my, I’ve crossed January 1st, I have no goals, I am doomed!” Relax; we’re not doomed. It’s never too late to set a goal or a vision for yourself. The key is to stick to it, which is why it’s crucial that your goals align with you.
Ask yourself: Why do you want what you want? Are you pursuing it because it feels right, or are you doing it because someone else expects it of you?
Do you want to be rich and famous because that’s who society admires? Or do you seek financial freedom to help the less fortunate by establishing orphanages or learning centers? What impact could your fame have on humanity?
There’s a powerful way to align your goals and intentions. Think of a word, or two, or three. Reflect deeply on what these words mean to you and why you chose them. Center your goals and activities around them. Create a mission/vision statement or affirmation that reminds you of your goals and intentions.
Here’s my example (and yes, you can hold me accountable for this throughout 2021):
In 2020, amidst everything going on, I felt I lost focus on my goals. I was busy trying to restore normalcy and gave away much of my power to unworthy people, things, and situations. For 2021, my three words are: Re-Claim (my power from unserving influences), Re-Set (wipe the slate clean), and Re-Align (identify new goals that serve my life purpose and the highest good of all).
Here’s what I want to become in 2021:
I want to be a Healer, a Teacher, and a Leader who helps individuals Transform, Transcend, and Transmute their lives so they can live out their fullest and highest expression on earth. I want to be a writer/author who Impacts lives through writing. I aim to be a Creatrix and an Alchemist who creates a significant shift in human consciousness, serving my life purpose and bringing abundance in all areas of my life.
So it’s your turn now. Who do you want to be in 2021?
