Leading an Empowered Life Part 2: Practices

This week we look at various Practices that can help us lead an Empowered Life. Living an empowered life means living an unlimited life full of achievement, possibilities, and happiness.

However, not many are able to live the life they desire, not because they don’t have the talent, but because they do not have the other qualities necessary to make it happen.

Here are a few practices that you can begin today to start leading a more empowered life:

1. Live Life Fiercely

Living fiercely means challenging ourselves to live life to the fullest. To Stop comparing ourselves with others and realizing that the only real competition that we have is with ourselves. Self-doubt only “delays” you from living a more fulfilling life NOW. Go at life with your whole heart. The more fiercely we live, the more wonderful life becomes.

2. Begin to Care, Deeply.

Once you know who you are and what you need, and how much compassion you have for yourself, you increase your capacity to care for other. It’s a mirrored effect, honestly. Even if there are those around you whom you cannot tolerate, you can be kind to them. Caring about what you do, and what your purpose is, will inspire others to want to be a part of you and in return care deeply about you as well.

3. Reality isn’t going anywhere. Accept That.

Life is plagued with loss and betrayal. Unforgivable things will keep on coming our way, and fighting these will only lead you down your own path of destruction. Acceptance brings you to reality and reality is the only place you can start to heal from in an effort to change your life.  Forgiveness is an essential part of healing, although wisdom lies in not forgetting. When you remember who and what did not have your best interest at heart, you are less likely to make those mistakes again in the future.

4. Remain Humble and Be Courageous.

To live from a state of empowerment, you must be humble enough to ask for help when you need to, as well as letting other shine more than you sometimes. It takes a lot of courage to step away from our personal norms, and overcome the fear in doing what we must in order to grow.

5. Maintain your Stance.

You must have heard of the saying, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”? Well, giving up is NEVER an option. If you are seeking to live an empowered life, and fulfilling your life dream, then no matter what situations befall you, you cannot give up in the middle of the race just because the finish line isn’t coming fast enough. Stay in the moment, learn patience and keep working hard. How often do we come across people who are not tough-minded enough to be patient or to tolerate uncertainty, and look for quick-fixes and the easy way out? If you want to live an empowered life, you must become a warrior; skilled in the area of perseverance. You must view each challenge as a competition to be won.

6. Protect your Boundaries.

No is an Option! This is something that I always struggle with, and then find myself overextending to an oppressive schedule that doesn’t allow me to take care of my health, nutrition, to get adequate sleep or enough time for my personal life.  There can be no Empowered Life if you do not have your health, the experience of deep love and the time to live your life wholeheartedly. Remember it is OK to say NO. If you fear missing out on one opportunity, another will come along that will be even better. So, feel safe to say NO when you have to.

7. Be Discerning.

The company we keep is very important. Toxic people have a negative impact on us and can take away your personal peace and power if you do not catch them soon enough. The same thing goes with situations and making a choice in life. Before you engage, ask yourself, does this align with my goals, dreams and values?  Empowered living is about is about surrounding yourself people who align with your values and goals, and also want to see you thrive.

So, leading and Empowered Life is all about making the mental shift in your mindset to believe that you deserve nothing but the best. Empowerment is ultimately a state of mental and emotional consciousness where you anticipate happiness, health, success and the belief that you can overcome any obstacle or difficulty. Say Yes to life, to new opportunities, thoughts, ideas and directions. You must allow your mind to be open, flexible and to trust that each time you say yes, that you set the stage for allowing yourself to lead an Empowered Life.
